When you register to vote, your name goes on the electoral register, which is a list of people eligible to vote.
The full electoral register has the names and addresses of everyone registered to vote. It can't be sold to anyone. Your details would only be used for electoral purposes or supplied to:
The full electoral register is not provided to other departments of the Council. If you've moved you will also need to contact other council departments to inform them.
The open register is a version of the electoral register which can be bought by any person, company or organisation.
Your name and address is included in the open register unless you ask for them to be removed when you register.
If you're already registered to vote you can take your name off the open register using our form. You will still be able to vote.
You can choose if you want your details on the open register when you register to vote.
Completing your registration application online does not confirm that you're on the register. Check if you're on the register.
